ABOUT US
We're a Jesus-centered community where people with and without intellectual disabilities lead and participate together.
WHAT: An ability-inclusive Christian church startup, experimenting and learning as we go!
We began meeting monthly in the Fall of 2017, and started meeting weekly (over zoom during the pandemic) in Spring of 2020.
WHO: We’re a community of people with and without intellectual, developmental, and other kinds of disabilities who strive to embody together a truly inclusive church community for people of all abilities. We intentionally include and honor the diversity of all people, including ability/disability, race, ethnicity, and national origin. People of all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcomed, celebrated, and invited to be their authentic selves in our church at all levels of participation and leadership, including ordination, marriage, teaching, etc.
We believe communities miss out unless they make space where everyone is able to fully participate and belong, and to lead and share their gifts. And not only to share gifts they have, but to share the gift that they are, through their presence.
WHY: To welcome and celebrate the gifts of everybody in a society where too often we are separated from one another. To create space for discipleship and real friendships across abilities. Because we are all members of the same body (1 Corinthians 12).
WHERE: Currently meeting online during the pandemic (email us for the zoom link!), but when it is wise and safe to meet in-person again, we will continue meeting in Los Angeles (Jefferson Park) at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles (2230 W. Jefferson Blvd., LA 90018). But check our Facebook event page each month in case of a location change. All our meeting spaces are wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms.
WHEN: Every Sunday at 4pm pacific time.
MORE INFO: We are a validated ministry of the Presbytery of the Pacific, and part of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Check out our links on social media at the bottom of this page for some of what we’ve been up to lately. You can also visit the website of our pastor, Bethany.
